Andy is an Australian children’s book author based in Western Australia, writing stories inspired by animals, nature and childhood wonder. She is available for events and school and library visits.
About Me
I was born in Hong Hong and lived on the edge of a jungle for the first 9 years of my life. If I wasn’t lost in a book, I was swinging on the tarzan swing, playing dress-ups with neighbourhood friends, hiding from snakes on the trampoline or swimming.
I was devastated to find out I was not Hongkongese, after proudly claiming I was at school one day. I climbed a palm tree the day we moved to Australia and refused to come down.
Australia, and being Australian, as it turned out, was great. Just different. Really different, as we moved to a hobby farm in the country.
Confused by the sudden lack of people, I became friends with the farm animals. My dog, Elvis, used to breakout regularly and visit me at school. We both got in trouble, especially when Elvis ate all the boarding students’ sandwiches.
Since that young age, animals have been a massive part of my life, providing huge inspiration for my stories.
I now live in a stone cottage in Nannup, Western Australia. My family includes horses, donkeys, chickens, dogs, my husband and our toddler. Not everyone fits in the cottage though. It is very small.
Why I Write
I love the space I get to live in when I write for children. The world becomes peaceful and focused. I dip back into childhood and get lost in stories filled with hope, awe, connection, courage and kindness.

I offer school, library and event visits for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, drawing on my background in teaching, theatre and creative writing. Workshops are designed to inspire confidence, creativity and connection.
